London Fixies
Branding project
This is an academic project on branding done at London College of Communication, we were asked to develop a mark/symbol for cycle culture in London, which later if required can also be used as an identity of a brand. We were also asked to show the adaptability of the mark in digital medias.
In the first stage I looked around the streets of London and observed different aspects of cycling which included different kind of cycles, their riders, cycling costumes, accessories, cycle parking, maps, road signs and also interviewing a few passionate riders.
In the next stage I focused onto particular subjects from the earlier visual palette. The slick and vibrant fixed gear bikes really fascinated me. I started to explore further; its structure, movement, the people who rides it and further created a more focused visual palette.
My aim was to develop a mark which depicts the fast and dynamic movement of the fixed gear bikes on the road.
Following is the sketchbook showing the visual summary of development of the mark.
The final Mark/Symbol
I have used vibrant orange colour which would suit the energy and dynamic nature of the bikes.
Adopting it in digital medias and using it as a brand identity.
